Yoga for Surfers 6 week Course

— About the Course —

Join yoga teacher and movement therapist Ben Trevorrow for 6 weeks of yoga for surfers. Yoga and surfing beginners welcome!


Over the 6 weeks you will:

– Build strength, agility and mobility to improve surfing performance.
– Learn calming and focusing breath practices.
– Improve postural alignment and improve knowledge of your body.

— Week 1 – Building alignment foundations —

Broaden your knowledge of the body and correct alignment through a fresh and unique blend of foundational yoga postures and loaded movement training.

— Week 2 – Strength Mobility balance —

Unlock your ankles/feet, hip and spine for improved maneuverability. Having greater freedom of movement in these areas enables us to twist and turn on the waves with more ease and style.

— Week 3 – Stability and core strength —

Exploring how we can stretch, twist and move into space using our full range of movement and crucially how to safely improve our ability to handle large amounts of stress during a full stretch. Delve into the mysterious world of fascia and its primary role as our organ of support!

— Week 4 – Coordination and agility —

Put a spring in your step and teach your body to be more responsive…building on the fundamental movement patterns we’ve learnt and exploring more continuous fluid movement patterns. Guaranteed to be a fun challenge.

— Week 5 – Power —
In this cardiovascular based class we’ll learn how to safely strengthen and charge up key muscle groups responsible for dynamic and explosive maneuvers in surfing.

— Week 6 – Surf high performance —

Circuit based class guaranteed to get your heart rate up! Testing all the fitness components learnt on the course. Learn surf specific exercises that you can use in your routines. Exploring a more detailed look at advance surf conditioning.

— About Ben —

Ben has been involved in sports fitness and therapy for over 20 years, with a particular interest in athletic development, pain management and fascia research. His knowledge can gain you a unique look at your body and his empowering teaching style will give you confidence.

Ben has a degree in Sports and Exercise Science from UWIC and is a Bowen therapist. He has worked as a sports science consultant, a personal trainer and sports coach for elite athletes including Pro Surfer Jayce Robinson. He also travelled the world as a professional Rugby player for nearly a decade.

Ben is a keen surfer and his love of the ocean began as a boy growing up in St Ives. Ben discovered Yoga 3 years ago and has been an integral part of his fitness regime ever since. He trained to teach yoga in 2019 with Julia McCabe.

—Is this course for me?—

This course is suitable for both beginners to Yoga (and surfing) and surfers with an existing practice looking to gain the edge in performance or competition.

Ben has years of experience working with injured clients as a movement therapist, so get in touch if you are recovering from an injury to see if this course is right for you.
